Muddy River Showcase to Feature Four Local Seniors and Canton Coach

Four Lewis County athletes have been selected to play in the Muddy River Showcase on Saturday, June 21 at the John Wood Community College Student Activity Center in Quincy, Illinois. Now in its fourth year, the Muddy River Showcase is organized by local outlet Muddy River Sports and features a Missouri vs. Illinois all-star matchup between 40 of the top senior basketball players from Northeast Missouri and West Central Illinois. The girls’ game is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the boys to follow around 4 p.m.

Boys Roster

Alongside the four student-athletes, Canton High School boys basketball coach Dalton Armontrout has been selected to lead the Missouri boys team. Coach Armontrout guided the Canton Tigers to a second-place finish in the Class 2 State Championship. One of the cornerstones of that run, Preston Brewer, was named the MBCA Class 2 Player of the Year. Brewer, who Armontrout has coached since his sophomore season, wrapped up his senior year averaging 25.4 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. He also became Canton’s all-time leading scorer, cementing his legacy in program history.

Girls Roster

On the girls side, Canton’s Macy Glasgow was selected to represent Missouri under Palmyra head coach Kelsey Stuart. Glasgow earned all-district honors this season and helped lead the Lady Tigers to a sectional appearance in the Class 2 State Tournament. She closed her senior season averaging 12.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
